Suggest Remedies For Elevated ALT Level

I would like to participate in a clinical study. My test came back with slightly elevated ALT (60 vs 55 limit for the test) and they want me to retest. Are there any foods I should avoid (or consume) or activities I should or should not do that might help lower my level by those 5 points or more within the next few days so I can qualify to participate?

Hello,

Your ALT level is slightly elevated. You are much concerned and want to maintain ALT level within normal range. You are suggested to loose weight if obese. Maintain healthy weight. Take food rich in B6, B12, folic acid, potassium. You can also take supplements. Take high fiber diet, prefer to take vegetable protein over animal protein.

Take spinach, peas, cereals, liver, brussels, avocados, etc., it will help increase your folic acid level. Take black coffee without sugar, exercise daily, do walking regularly. Prefer to take boiled food for a couple of months. Avoid junk food, packaged food, fried food, full fat dairy products, trans fat, etc. Avoid raw food & stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
