Suggest Medications For Vomitting In Patients With Hyperthyroidism
My wife was suffering from hyperthyriodism and has been taking Thyroxin Sodium 100 mcg daily. But she has discontinued to take pills for one month.Vomiting has been persisting since 2 and half months. The frequency of vomiting has increased for two days ago. What should she do now.
HI. Let me make it clear to you . Your wife was either suffering from HYPO-thyroidism ( not HYPERthyroidisn) or she was not on thyroxine but something else= it looks she was suffering from hypothyroidism.
A patient should not stop such a high dose schedule. Anyway - she has discontinued Thyroxin for 1 month- but is vomiting since 2 and half months. Is She pregnant ????? If she is not pregnant she has to undergo a proper clinical proper clinical examination to be done by a Doctor who can catch many of the problems on your proper history and physical examination and can then guide for further investigations and treatment. She needs an opinion of a Gastroenterologist and upper GI endoscopy, ultrasonography and CT scan of the abdomen to rule out any pathology. Sometimes a CT of the brain too is important.
You have to remember one thing - there is something called psychogenic vomiting and is considered if all the tests are negative.
