Suggest Medication For Rashes On The Legs And Back While Taking Cipro
My mom is taking 500 mg tabs of cipro twice daily and has developed a red rash on her legs, side of face and back, which just started in the last few hours. She s been taking the cipro since Feb 14 to combat an infection that developed on the outside of her ear. Is it ok to give her a Benedryl tab?
Well the rash can be due to allergic reaction only but as she is taking Cipro for a pretty long time so it can be due to anything else and not the antibiotics.
Yes, Benadryl can help in reducing the symptoms. Along with benadryl she can also apply Calamine or Caladryl lotion over the skin to soothe the skin and reduce itchiness.
Doing cool compresses can also help..
In case if the symptoms recur an allergy test can be done to rule out the exact cause of the reaction.. Avoiding exposure to allergen can help in preventing further outbreaks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
