General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Medications for diabetes would mainly depend on 3 tests:

1. Fasting plasma glucose.
2. Post-prandial plasma glucose.
3. Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.

If your glycated haemoglobin level is below the upper limit of 6.4%, then it suggests what medications have been prescribed is controlling glucose levels well and minor fluctuations need not be worried about much.

Kindly get the above investigations and consult Diabetologist for follow-up regularly. Also, it is essential to follow the diet as prescribed strictly along with exercises to keep glucose levels well within control limits.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
