hello im 58 year old female i have a prolapsed bladder and think i may now have prolapsed bowel to im on blood pressure tablets colestral and antideppresant tablets i have started to get very loose smelly stools up to 6 times a day or 20 mins after eating have you any idea what is causeing this i feel fine otherwise kind regards carol
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Loose smelly stools and particularly 20 minutes after eating indicate that you have an inflammatory lesion in abdomen in the form of Enteritis and/or lymph node or appendicitis or diverticulitis. This may not be related to prolapse of urinary bladder or rectum. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get the stool and blood tested. Ultrasonography of abdomen. If there is any evidence of intestinal infection a course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection can cure your problems. If there any inflammatory lesion like appendicitis, lymph nodes or so a CT scan will be more confirmatory and will need surgery if proved so by appropriate clinical evaluation and correlation with the investigations.
