Suggest Diet To Be Followed By A Diabetic Patient Suffering With Jaundice

Hi! My mother is diabetic (age 47) patient from last 4 year ago and suffering from jaundice recent from 1 week. Although his sugar levels are well controlled but due to consumption of fluids such as coconut water and fruit juices his sugar levels have increased. It would be really helpful if you could suggest some diet for him which do not elevate his sugar levels as well as aid in curing jaundice. Having nausea, fatigue, pain in umbalical region sometimes.please suggest diet and aid to cure health. Raksha

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Jaundice is managed by appropriate diet and clean water.
I assume that the jaundice is water borne (i.e. caused by Hepatitis A or E).
In this situation, boiled water is a must.
Diet should be carbohydrate rich and should has less fatts.
Coconut water and sugarcane juice are helpful, however, since sugarcane juice has high glucose content, it may be avoided.
Likewise other fruit juices which have high content of glucose may be avoided.
Instead you may take coconut water and butter milk.
Fatty and spicy foods should be avoided.
Carbohydrate rich foods should be taken.
If proper medication for diabetes is taken at appropriate times, the risk of elevating blood glucose is unlikely.

Thanks and take care
