Suggest Cure For Fever, Neck Pain And Sore Throat

My symptoms are sore throat, runny nose or stuffiness. The side of my neck is tender to the touch. These symptoms started on Saturday and now I have a cough ,not bad, and the tenderness at neck started today. My temp is 99.1. Should I wait this out or see a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A sore throat, runny nose and pains all are mostly caused by a viral infection. Very often it would settle itself in a few days and do not need any treatment. We encourage to take more fluids and a good diet.

If you do not feel very sick, you may not need to go to your doctor. You can use paracetamol and Avil for symptoms relief. There are other over the counter remedies for flue you may use. However, if you feel short of breath, or very sick, or things don't get well in 5 days, you should see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
