Hello,

Since you are not planning for a child in the next 3-4 yrs, you are suggested to get your wife clinically examined by a gynecologist and get her on implants. It can be IUD or Norplant, Patch, shots whatever suitable. All the contraceptive devices, whether pills or implants have side effects because they work by either keeping the ovaries from releasing eggs or by changing the lining of the uterus or the mucus of the cervix.

Birth control methods can increase bleeding or decrease it. Periods can be longer, shorter, heavier, or lighter, depending on the method of birth control. Spotting and irregular bleeding are common side effects of most methods of hormonal birth control methods. Pulling out before the climax (withdrawal method) is the only method without side effects but it is not recommended by health care providers. Failures cause pregnancy. Condoms and spermicides can be used and are effective.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
