My 14 year old daughter has had chronic ear infections. She had temporary tubes in July 2009 however, both tubes fell out within 8 months from surgery. Her ear infections have decreased but she did have an infection on month ago. Today she had severe ear pain, complained that her ear felt like it was popping and then fizzing, and she felt dizzy... I took her to a walkin clinic and the doctor said she had a retracted eardrum. What is the concerns for a retracted eardrum, how does it cause pain, and what treatment is needed? Could she possibly need permanent ear tubes?
