Hi Dr, this is srini from chennai. I'm having vericose veins in my left leg for the past 4yrs. Now i feel it starts growing. Some times i'm getting itching problem in that veins. I contact with general medicine Dr, he said nothing to worry wear stockings it ll protect growing like that. Pls give me suggestions regarding this.
Compression stocking are a good non invasive way to prevent further worsening of the varicosities.
Elevating your leg for atleast half an hour a day will help, including while you sleep.
Try taking half an aspirin a day and consider an anti histamine for the itchiness.
There are other invasive options for varicose veins: 1) Sclerosing therapy, a chemical is injected into the veins to close them. 2) Stripping of the veins surgically.
Hope this helps.
