Suffering From B12 Deficiency, Numbness In Feet And Finger Tips, Floaters In Vision. Wat Supplements Will Suffice?
Hi Doctor
I have been suffering from b12 deficiency from couple of months now. It started with numbness in my feet and finger tips.
I started taking supplements for the same.
Very recently I met with an accident and had a arm surgery done. After this, I am noticing a lot of floaters in my eyes and occasional drowsiness as well for days.
I met an eye specialist and he told me my eyes are fine. But these sudden increase in floaters is my concern.
Could you please let me know if b12 deficiency can cause this. If yes how to go about the cure?
Hello, Vitain B 12 deficieny is known to cause numbness which you have mentioned in the history. But Vitamin B12 deficiency will not lead to floaters. Floaters are caused by opacities in the posterior part of the eye in vitreous. They can be seen because of age related degenerations in the vitreous. Sometimes floaters can be seen as a prodromal symptoms of problems of retina like retinal tear. Especially sudden increase in floaters need to be evaluated to rule out serious conditions.
Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist or preferably Retina specialist for evaluation.
Thank you
