Suffering From Acne. Taking Minoz OD, Hyper Pigmentation. Advice?

Hi,

I am 25 year old female. For the past 2 months or so my acne problem has increased. Where I was getting 1 or 2 small pimples before has now increased to 4-5 big cycts. Its horrific! I started taking Minoz OD 100 mg from the past week. since then I have started feeling giddy and I have noticed hyper pigmentation around my pipmples. I have taken minoz when I was a teenager to get rid of acne(under doctor's prescription) and I had no issue of giddiness or hyper pigmentation. I am confused as to why my body is reacting like this now. please help and advice.

Hi thanks for writing here.It seems you are having nodulocystic type of acne.Minocycline is a good drug but has a range of side effects.Both of symptoms seems to be due to minocycline.It causes hyperpigmentation around acne lesion itself.Secondly it causes vestibular disturbances leading to gidiness.It is more common in females than in males.It is better you stop drug now,and consult your dermatologist .You can apply clindamycin topically for your lesions.Use oil control soap.Hope this can help in solving your problem.Take care.
