1. Because foot is swelling, this means Filariasis stage has converted into elephantiasis.
2. because it is only in Left leg, i.e. asymmetric thus cause can be venous (DVT) or Lymphatic (Lymphedema)
3. what are the Symptoms resulting from the pathology?
4. as the condition is disabling and disfiguring seek medical care whether the infection is active or has progressed to complications.
4. DEC (hetrazan) is the drug of choice in your condition, other group of medicines can be given to reduce the side effects of the main drug.

General & Family Physician Dr. J Kingson John David's  Response
Thanks for using Health Care Magic Forum,

Filaria should be prevented at early life but now no need to be panic..
I advice you to be on medication to treat filarial leg swelling.
1) Tab.Albendazole with Ivermectin is standard treatment of choice for Fiarial disease
2) Tab.Doxycycline 200mg twice a day for 2 weeks

You can consult any physiotherapist, he will teach him some exercises and there are many physiotherapy modalities which will reduce the swelling. You can follow some of my suggestions.
1. Elevate the leg while sleeping by keeping pillow just bellow the ankle.
2. Do not sit with the leg hanging, You can keep your leg on a stool.
3. Lie down flat then stretch your ankle towards your face and then take it back. It is called as ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion exercise.

I Hope I Provided Useful Information. Do ask Furthur Questions to help You get well soon.
