Suffered Stroke, Needs Laxative Dulcolax Everyday. Alternatives ?

My wife, 82, had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago. Since then she often needs to have a laxative. I give her the Dulcolax tablet for women. I give her only one. Some times I cut the little pill in half. She doesn't get any action from this half. If I give her a full tablet, it is too much most of the time. Do you think that one of your stool softeners might work better for her? for her?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the half tablet has minimal effect and the whole tablet is too much, you may want to consider adding natural methods to the use of the half tablet.

This means the use of agents such as prune juice, golden syrup which are known to stimulate bowel movements.

If her intake of fiber can be increased in general with the use of at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables it would also be helpful for her.

I hope this helps
