Suffered Retinal Detachments. Is This Related To Ejection Fraction Rating? Have Diabetes

My father has an Ejection Fraction rate of 20 (taken in 2010, possibly lower by now), has diabetes and has suffered 4 retinal detachments in the last year. The last detachment did not involve a tear at all. Are the retinal detachments related to the EF rating? My thouhgt is that his body is not getting enough blood and oxygen but I don;t understand it all that well.

hi

Based on the information that EF-20%, which is considered very low as the normal ratio in 55%, not the area where the retina is attached to Retinal pigment epithelium (RGP), needs a oxygen and nutrients which is supplied via blood now less amount of blood will reduce the availability of necessary nutrients and can cause such problem.

More over their are changes in the the vitreous fluid which maintains the balance in the eye will have some issues due to oozing of fluid which in turn causes traction between retina and RPG leading to retinal detachment.

Hope it helps to further clarify the understanding the pathological process going on inside the eye during retinal detachment.
