Sudden Severe Hearing Loss In Left Ear. Have Brain MRI Result. Can Any Online Doctor Help In Reading It?

I have had sudden severe hearing loss in my left ear. I saw an ENT who ordered a brain MRI . The MRI report notes subtle increased T2 and FLAIR signal with decreased T1 signal in the pons most conspicuous on left. ....findings may be due to ischemic change. Did I have a stroke? I am 59yr old female with hypertension controlled on med.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your report suggests that,
1.There is subtle T2 and FLAIR hyperintensity and T1 hypointensity in pons in left side and most likely it is due to ischemia. History of hypertension also indicates towards this.
It is minor form of stroke. You should continue taking antihypertensives.

Take Care
