Stomach Pain After Bowel Movement Can It Be IBS.

Hi, I have had stomach aches for some time now, and sometimes have problems with bowel movement, though lately I have BM once or twice a day. I often have increased stomach pains after bowel movement, and today I found sth strange like a yellow spongy object in the stool (looks like it is made of tiny yellowish drops all glued together to form a sort of sponge) and also yellowish mucus in the stool. Tests for parasites were negative and the ultrasound was OK, but I am worried - could it be connected to celiac disease (I have the gene) or IBS or sth different?

Hi,

Noted the history of passing spongy piece of stool that looked like made of tiny yellowish drops, all glued together to form a sort of sponge and yellow mucus. Also have stomach aches, tests for parasites negative, wants to know whether this is related to celiac disease or IBS or something different. As per the history you have provided, this looks to be stool only with bacterial producing gas that gets entrapped to show something like this.

Occasionally can be a mass of tissues that have gone through the stage of auto-digestion.Hence nothing much to worry about. But to get a proper diagnosis you need to undergo the following: Stool tests for three consecutive days. Colonoscopy and CT scan of the whole abdomen as all these will show something positive or show normal and thence can be termed as IBS and treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
