Spotting Brown Blood, Spots Of Red After Having Sex, Irregular Periods. Should I Be Concerned?

For a week now, I have been spotting brown blood, with some spots of red after having sex with my boyfriend. It started right after we finished. I've been reading up on my symptoms and the most results I got was about implantation bleeding. Even though my boyfriend and I have sex regularly (about two or three times a week) we are always safe, so that should not be an issue. I've always had very irregular periods (They're usually about 3 to four months apart from one another.) and have bled some times after sex, though not for this long at all. My last period was last month at the beginning of the month, then we had sex the beginning of this month. Should I be concerned? What could it be?

hello,
Thank you for the query.
Spotting brown blood after intercourse may indicate some causes like:
-friction during intercourse due to lack of enough lubricant may irritate cervix
-sexually transmitted diseases
-vaginitis
-cervicitis
-pelvic inflammatory disease
-endometriosis
-aggressive intercourse may also gives rise to immedicae bleeding
And about the treatment, most of the infections are controlled by antibiotics prescribed by your doctor and about aggressive if that is the cause you need to be less aggressive. And if it is about lubrication you need to use lubricant to lessen the irritation to cervix. As you also have irregular periods you need to have a scan for that to rule out polycystic ovarian disease.Thank you.

Hello,

Bleeding just after sex usually associated with blunt trauma inside vagina/ cervix, infection, STD, rough sex, uterine/ cervical polyp etc. However, brown spotting or discharge commonly associated with implantation bleeding.

Here, you need to undergo one blood test for beta-hCG and TVS scan 2 weeks after last sexual intercourse. After that, you must consult with gynecologist for complete evaluation. Take suggestive measures accordingly.

Be well and good luck. Practice protected sex in future. Maintain genital hygiene properly.
