Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Small Child, Bug Bites, Surrounded By Redness, Fever. Causes For Symptoms?
My daughter (2) recently received several bug bites. We don t know where they came from, and don t know what kind of bites they are. The actual bite area looks like a mosquito bite, but there is a large quarter to half dollar sized red area around them. She is showing signs of a fever and in general is not herself. Any ideas on what this could be?
It is not possible to tell what type of insect bit your daughter by the description given by you. Any insect bite can be followed by a larger area of redness around the bite.
How much has been the termperature? You have not mentioned it except saying "showing signs of fever". Several bug bites can make a toddler irritable and she is bound to be "not herself". I suggest that you wait and observe for another day or two.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction. Please do feel free to update on the situation and feel free to revert back if any clarification is required.
