Difficulty in speech may be caused due to problems in the brain and nerve supplying the tongue, facial muscles and vocal cords. Long use of drugs and alcohol damages the brain matter and nerves and causes demylinationation. In many cases this damage may be irreversible but may stop the progression by avoiding drugs and alcohol and following doctors medications.
