Should I Meet Doctor For Anxiety And Depression?

Hi, I am a 30 year old woman who has been suffering from axiety attacks for the past 4 days, I have been on and off depressed for the past 4 years and never taken medication. I have tried acupuncture, meditation, yoga, but nothing works. I am really afraid to take antidepressants, could this anxiety just go away by itself or do I need to see a doctor?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your concern regarding medications. It has been 4 years of your facing symptoms and you are still suffering from it. If it has not gone by now by itself, it is highly likely that it will persist without proper treatment. I think it is high time that you initiate treatment. You have already tried a lot many things which hasn't worked. Moreover, delaying treatment will only delay achieving response to treatment.

Current lot of anti-depressants are very safe. You really should not worry about it. You should seek a psychiatric consultation for complete evaluation and starting treatment.

Hope that the information provided was helpful. Best wishes.
