Hi,
Chlorhexidine mouth washes are prescribed for 3 weeks. If used more than 4 weeks it can cause staining of teeth, stenosis of parotid duct, burning sensation of mucosa.

Dentist, Pedodontics Dr. Karthik Venkataragahavan's  Response
Using a mouthwash routinely will not cause any problems. it is an aid to brushing. as long as you do the rinsing properly 1-2 times a day, you can enjoy really fresh Breath!
There are a lot of mouthwashes available these days which are good and are specifically for daily use.

I have a tiny white spot on tip of tongue that is sore to touch, has gone away, but come back and now have had it for a week. Have had this same symptom in the past, but it eventually went away after a day or two; concerns me that it is not going away now. I have good oral hygiene, brush, floss, rinse with mouthwash at night. I am 71 years old, in extreme good health, no prescription meds only take nutritional supplements, exercise every day; BMI 20.5. Is there a homeopathic mouth rinse that I can use?

About a month ago, I bit down on an apple, and experienced pain in my lower jaw. It radiated up to my ear. The pain subsided. My dentist took x-rays, saw no infection, but put me on Keflex 500 mg, which I took till finished. FYI--my sinuses flared up (headaches) & my ears ached, for a while....both have since subsided. In the last week, my teeth have (overall) were sensitive. I ve also developed a lump, below the gum line, in the same area, that I originally felt pain. I called the dentist again, and he has me rinsing 2x daily with Chlorhexidine 0.12% He did not renew the Keflex. My tooth sensitivity has subsided. The lump is still there, but seems to be improving. Is the mouth rinse effective in treating problems BELOW the gum line? i.e. lumps & is more keflex recommended? Thanks! Nancy

For years Ive been bloated, gassy and cramped. I cant gain weight. I wake up with gas and bad taste in my mouth. I have no sinus infections but I always have bad breath ( I brush and floss daily). Ive done almost every test possible and there all clear. My doctor says its IBS and there's nothing he can do, to help (which I find hard to believe). Im a 43 yr old male 5' 11" and 140lbs.
I calculated my diet at approx. 2800-3000 calories a day. My job is not physically demanding and Ive stopped weight training.
Any help would be just great, thanks.
