Should I Continue Taking Cephalexin Even If I Suffered Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramping?

I have been taking my cephalexin for toe infection for about 6 days now (it was prescribed to be taken for full 10 days every 6 hours) yesterday I had very violent diarrhea with extreme stomach pains. I have not experienced this before when I started taking this medication. My question is should I continue to take the rest of the cephalexin as was prescribed? Will I get any more problems with my stomach? This diarrhea and stomach upset caused me to miss work today and I can not afford to loose any more work days.

Hi thanks a lot for your query.first all let me alert you to stop this medication as it causing you side effect of diarrrhoea .generally this drug is pescribed for 5 to 7 days twice a day...depending on the degree of foot infection...now since you used it for 6 days ,you can stop this antibiotic now.I suugest you be carefull next time when you again if you have to use it.I advice you to avoid this antibiotic for future use as it runs a high risk of causing MASSIVE DIARRHOEA AND PAIN ABDOMEN syndrome called as PSEUDOMEMBRANOUS COLITIS....AS IN YOUR CASE ,you will be all fine once you stop this drug.hydrate yourself with plenty of fluids.,..don't feel anxious.take care .thank you.
