Should I Be Concerned For Elevated Creatinine Level?

Hello...I am a 53 y/o blk male, 6'3"...258 pounds and have a creatinine level of 1.4. Is this something to be concerned about? I was told the normal range was up to 1.2 but perhaps with my height and weight, it could be higher and lossing 5 to 10 pounds may bring it down.

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It's true that Serum creatinine depends on body weight and also kidney function which is measured as GFR is depends on weight as well as age of the person. So according to GFR it will be within normal range. So, at present nothing to worry.
My advice to you is -
1.Get your sonography of kidneys, urine routine for protein levels done to confirm you don't have kidney damage..

2.To much weight will lead to diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. So, try to reduce it on priority basis.

3.We cacan't relie on only one report, because S. Creat might be raised only because of dehydration temporarily. So repeat it after one month and meet
Your doctor afterwards.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
