Sharp Burning Sensation In The Knee, Swelling In The Knee Cap. Will This Get Cured?

Hi Doc, I have an issue with my knee and I trying to find the best way to treat it as I am keen to continue playing sports. I have a sharp burning sensation when I fully bend my knee and small swelling just above the knee cap. I have no other issue with walking or stairs or even playing sports, it just seems to inflame when it takes a small impact. I believe it was an impact that caused the issue in the first place nothing traumatic just dropping down on my knee suddenly on a hard surface whilest playing football. any advice would be great. thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read details of your question.

It looks that you had injury due to fall of heavy object. Most probably this had caused injury to cartilage or soft covering inside the knee. You should do following to have relief in this-

-If you are having too much problem with this then you should have a MRI investigation of knee. This will be able to give you complete detail about any damage to structure of inside of knee.

-Avoid too much sport activity at present.

-Take an anti inflammatory analgesic like aleeve.

-Take a joint supplement like glucosamine & chondrotin sulfate. This is available OTC.

-Avoid squatting movements .

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.
