Severe Pain In Sternum, Was Hit In An Accident. Normal X Rays. Cause Of Pain?

I recently was involved in a car accident, being hit from the rear and pushed into a semi. I received a severe pain to the sternum area(probably seat belt) . My doctor xrayed me and said nothing was broken and there was no fluids. Today I have a sharp pain to the left of the sternum through to my back, certain movements make it worse. What could be going on?

Hi, welcome to Health care magic forum.
For any accidental injury the symptoms are seen up to 24 hours, and not shown immediately. Now you may need to have an M.R.I. for diagnosis and treatment.
You may need to have absolute bed rest for few days, till the pain is subsided.
So consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
