Severe Migraine, Vomiting, Weakness, Vision Problem During Migraine. Normal CT Scan. Underlying Cause?

Hi I my name is sher and I am 29, I have been having acute migraine's since I was about 13 or 14. I used to get the migraines very often and for long periods of times which include vomiting, dizziness, weakness, I could hardly walk or stand and I had weakness in my hands. as I got older the migraine's got worse but not as frequent. recently I have been unable to see when I get a migraine. I had a migraine yesterday and I think it was one of the worst ones ever. I could not read the label that I was looking at and I could hardly see. this lasted for more than an hour. I have had a ct scan and it came back normal. what is causing me to not be able to see almost any at all? can you help?

Welcome to HCM!

I have gone through your question and from my clinical experince I can say that you are having severe attacks of migraine, but now it also lead to loss of vision for some time. It is not unuaual to see such cases and the investigations are usually with in normal limits, even the vision test when down after the headache, will come normal. So thee is usually no permanet eye damage. These are the neurological symptoms of migraines, like dizziness, vertigo, vision problems, even seizures in rare cases.

I would advice you that as the intensity of migraines are increasing, please start taking some treatment for prophylaxis. This will help to reduce the intensity of attacks, later the frequency will also reduce and you might not get any attack altogether. the treatment usually last for 4-6 months, but there can be individual variations. it is a long treatment, but I can tell you that it will be worth going for in cases like yours.

So, please see a doctor and get the prophylactic treatment.
Hope the reply helps you
