Severe Left Hip/leg Pain Which Runs From Hip Joint To Knee After Acute Viral Pneumonia. High Ferritin Levels, On Ramipril. Causes ?

I had acute viral pneumonia which left me also with a weak left ventrical and arithmic heart . I am cleared by consultants on these but take Ramipril and Furosemide daily. I have had acute left hip/ left leg paid for several months - xray and MRI confirm that the hip joint is not showing sufficient wear for hip replacement - I have had a hip block but pain continues - I have now been calleds back for another blood sample and have a further hospital appointment as a bllod test for my heart has shown a high Ferritin level - could this be the cause of the severe left hip/leg pain which runs from the hip joint down the left side to the knee or down the front of the leg ?

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.

Its true that deposition of ferritin can cause joint pain and your leg/ hip joint paind can be explained by this.

The pain could also be present in other joints though out your body.

A repeat blood serum ferritin test is the right thing to be done and you are due for it.

Hope this helps.
