Red Spots On Tummy, Back And Bum Of A Child, Looks Like Pimples. Diet And Precaution To Be Taken?

Hi my baby is 18 weeks old and has a red red on his tummy there are some on his back and bum also. Some of these are like pimples . He is not irritated us eating all his meals, in good mood and sleeping normally. Yesterday his granda gave him a suck of an orange, I didn t know this as I wasn t there or would not have allowed it.

Hi Christine,
Thanks for writing in.
I think your child is developing a rash, which could be infectious or allergic in origin. I would suggest that you keep the area clean and dry. You can apply neosporin dusting powder and see if it becomes ok on its own. If they start getting worse or if your baby stops feeding or reacting normally, please take him to his paediatrician immediately. He may need a course of antibiotics. This is not related to the orange , although children less than 6 months of age should be exclusively breast fed.
