Red, Itchy Burning Chemical Burn With Large Blisters From Sterile Gauze Used After Bunion Surgery. Help
My mother appears to have received a chemical burn (red, itchy, burning & now with large blisters) from the "sterile" gauze used after bunion surgery. I've been reading about reactions to bandaids, adhesives, etc but nothing about gauze. Also read some gauze is made sterile by using chemicals so wondering what could have happened.
hi. seems to have developed allergic to something either savlon, betadine or to adhesive. Use a topical Steroid+Antibiotic combination cream and apply twice daily. take an oral antihistamine like cetrizine for a week or 10 days
