Red Hard Swollen Knot On Thigh. Located Where It Was Immunized. Medical Cure For This?

Hi. My 1 yr old child came home from my parent's house yesterday with a red hard swollen knot on his thigh. It is non tender and cool to the touch. He had his 1 yr immunizations 2.5 weeks ago. The spot is located where an immunization was given. May be too long for that, but didn't know if I should take him into the clinic today for evaluation for a spider bite or something like that? Thank you.

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

It is not uncommon or young children to develop hard
masses on injection sites for vaccins.
This usually develops into sterile absesses or become hard and fibrose massed that take much time before they finally disappear.

You just need to apply cotton soaked with alcohol on the spot daily and changing the cotton three times daily.

You should monitor the child, if child develops fever, or the spot becomes soft, painful and or warm, you will need to go to hospital immediately.

Hope this helps you.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
