(may be light sensitive) he has a defibulator from previous heart attack after beating non hodgkins lymphome 3 years ago..hense an MRI is out...he has had three lumbar puncture tests and numerous blood tests. He is age 74...the doctors can t seem to come up with a diagnosis...not most of his family live into their 90s and 100s
Hi, The reasons of extreme weakness in old age is due to a multitude of complications. Foremost, there is cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, hepatic and gastrointestinal reduction in function. Central nervous system can show few degenerative changes too. Secondly, increased malnutrition in elderly, mostly due to reduced intake and sometimes due to malabsorption syndromes. Thirdly, complicating diseases like chronic diseases - diabetes mellitus and hypertension Fourth, reduced mobility due to musculoskeletal system abnormality Finally, tumors, infarction etc.
All these are factors which can affect. If you provide me with more details, reports - I will try to help you more. Dr. Prakash HM
