Rapid Heartbeat After Drinking Coffee. Cause?

I have noticed sometimes when i drink coffee before i go to bed i have rapid heartbeat and is even sounds like i can hear my heart beating in my ears. I dont know whether it has to do with the fact that I had a glass of wine a short time before the coffeee but i was wondering what is causing my heart to beat so fast, how can i slow it down because i become quite anxious and is it dangerous?

Hello,

Coffee can cause such symptoms. Caffeine can stimulate heart and make it beat rapidly. May be in combination with wine this might be getting precipitated. In most cases this is harmless and one has to limit use of coffee.

But if this occurs in day time as well, then it would be suggestible to get primary cardiac investigations done.

Regards.
