Painful Scrotum. Recently Diagnosed With Lumbar Strain Following A Back Injury. Are These Interrelated?

I just hurt my back recently diagnosed with Lumbar strain, I just noticed pain and "extra things" in the scrotum, I did have this same symptom 15-20 years ago but it was down played, this is only the second time since, feels like as was stated by another doctor a "bag of woms", I don't know if my recent back injury is connected. thank you for any help you can give.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. Lumbar pain could radiate to the scrotum but i wonder if this is the case with you right now. They are mere coincidence and not related. the finding you mentioned of a bag of worms is typical fro the diagnosis of varicocele. Varococele represent dilated scrotal veins that are unable to return blood effectively to the heart. This causes swelling and pain. It generally requires no management except controlling for pains or when the client has fertility difficulties.

Pain medication alongside a tight under wears are very helpful to control this condition. Also, avoiding unnecessarily long upright position helps prevent blood accumulation and pain symptoms.

I hope you find this helpful and it addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.
