Pain In The Back. Hair Line Fracture In The Vertebrae. Using Tylenol. History Of Osteoporosis. Alternative Medication?

My mom who is 80 yrs.old, fell 3 weeks ago & has a hairline fracture between the 12th. & 13th. vertebrae.
Her biggest complaint is that the pain does not get anty better with time & finds it very hard to move around
(she also has osteoporosis) she has taken STATEX & OXYCODONE to no avail. At the moment she is taking extra strength TYLENOL but finds it doesn't help much. Is there any other medication that would help a little more, please keep in mind that she does not take any other medications & is in perfect health / thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.
As per your history of trauma there is possibility of rib contusion.
I will advise you tab tramadol and you can also use local nupatch for pain relief.

Medication like muscle relaxant and analgesic will reduce pain along with it use rib support belt.
You may consult physiotherapist for pain management. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case.
You may need to take rest for early healing.
For osteoporosis newer medication can be started consulting your doctor.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. If you find this answer helpful do not forget to give rating at end of discussion.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
