Pain In Hip And Groin. Taking Medrol, Epidural, Steroid Injection. Is It A Labrum Tear?
I am a 74 year old make and up unitl about three months ago cycled about 50 miles a week. I began to develop a slight pain in the outside of my hip that is very intense in the groin when I cross my left leg. I ve had to walk with a cane for the past 2 1/2 months. My orthopeadic surgeon sadi it was not my hip but my back. I have recevied a pirisformis muscle injection, a epidural in L4/5, two other steriod injection and a Medrol dose pak. I ve received very little relief. I am not convinced it is not my hip and next week will have a Arthurogram of my left hip. Could I have a slight labrum tear? Do you have any other ideas?. I feel like I m just being a guinea pig with my pain management physician. Your help please. Thank you J.M. Julian YYYY@YYYY

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. It could be due to radiation of back or labral tear or arthritic changes in hip. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the X-ray/MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
