Ophthalmologist 's  Response
A dental infection following an infected tooth condition can cause the throbbing pain you describe. If the tooth bothering you is the molar then there is a possibility of the infection affecting the eye as well. Check the vision in both eyes by shutting each eye alternately. Also, there should be no blurred vision for near or diplopia (double vision). You would require a course of antibiotics like Ceftriaxone taken 2 times a day for 5 days. Take Ibuprofen tablets along with the antibiotic, also 2 times a day. hopefully, this should subside the pain but if the tooth is infected it would have to be attended to. Any vision disturbances has to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist.
