Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi dear,
It could be an insect bite as said by you, could be an infection or allergy. It is the rate of progression that you need to be worried. Usually it will subside in one or two days. If it is increasing then you need to show it to your gp. You can try soothing lotions like calamine.
Don't worry she will be fine.

Pediatrician Dr. Taher Kagalwala's  Response
I think that if your son is not crying or is not uncomfortable - just leave the spot alone till you see the doctor. It might be a bug-bite, but this is unlikely because such bites usually itch or pain. The other possibilities are that it might be due to a virus, a local injury with something tiny but sharp or it might be a birth mark that is now increasing, such as a hemangioma.
