Hello Kevin,
Thanks for posting,
You are having the symptom known as
odynophagia. Odynophagia is painful swallowing, in the mouth (
oropharynx) or esophagus. It can occur with or without dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing. It can be caused by many conditions, including very hot or cold food or drink, drugs, ulcers and mucosal destruction, upper
respiratory tract infections, immune disorders,
epiglottitis, cancers, and motor disorders. Now, given that your ENT doctor had already done all the necessary tests needed to rule out most of the above mentioned possible causes, it will be wise to have a doctor look at psychogenic pain, immune disorder and/or motor disorders which could possible be responsible. Taking medications such as tricyclic antidepressants (prescription drug) could also help with the pain.
I do not think you are suffering from recurrent
throat infection and so to me and so the antibiotics is of no use.
Hope this helps
