On Statin Drugs For High Cholesterol, Developed Neck Pain, Muscle Weakness. Side Effects ?

I have been on statin drugs for high cholesterol for 3 years. About 2 years ago I developed neck pain and muscle weakness that comes and goes. I just finished physical therapy for neck pain. It helped with mobility but my neck is still achey most of the time. Could the neck pain and weakness be due to the statin drug? Also, would the pain be off and on if it were a side effect? Would it take a year to develop these side effects?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

I feel that your neck pain and muscle weakness are not related to statin usage. They might be due to cervical spine problem.

Yes, it is possible to have side effects on and off.

Side effects due to statin usage may start as early as 6-8 weeks and may vary from person to person.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
