Noticed A Boil On My Lip After Surgery. What Should I Do?

hi, i have had surgery a couple of days a ago and had a general, within a couple of hours i noticed what looks like a boil on my top lip, its is getting bigger and weeping a bit, i am worried that it will have to be lanced and don t know how this happened as i went to a very good hospital, and paid for all my treatment, even the anaesthetic privately . thanks could you explain and advised on what i can do, i am using Blistex it seems to help :)

Hi,

It seems to be folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle. I would recommend you to take oral antibiotic like tablet cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for 5 days and apply fusidic acid cream on the affected areas twice daily for 7 days. This should help in resolving your problem.
