Need Medication For Herpeszoster Which Has Left Black Scars

Hi Doc I had Herpeszoster 4 weeks back the blisters have healed,allthe scabs goneexcept black scars. I still feel itching and some type of burning pain occasionally. I am 65 years old,previously had chiken pox. How long you think I will have the pain

Hi,

It may be post herpetic neuralgia. Avoid anxiety and take antihistamines, Pregabalin, Amytriptiline etc., under observation of your dermatologist. It may be all right. Relapse of herpes zoster is very rare.. so,do not worry. It always follows chicken pox. All patients give past history of chicken pox. The virus is same. The dormant virus becomes active and causes herpes zoster.
