Nausea, Vomiting, Taking Healthy Diet

My 10 year old daughter has been experiencing nausea , sometimes vomiting once just saliva , etc recently before school. She has never been a big breakfast eater and we just pack a healthy morning snack for her instead. Once she vomits or sometimes just with some time passing, she is perfectly normal. No other symptoms of anything that I or she can tell lately and I ve investigated with her and teachers, etc whom we know very well and she is very comfortable with regarding any possible bullying or school work anxiety type things could be a factor with no sign of that. Any suggestions on what might cause that problem.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Though it would be tough to imagine GERD in a child, it can occur in children. Certain medical conditions like hiatus hernia can also cause symptoms even in a 10 year old. This presents as nausea, vomiting early in the day, discomfort. This needs to be evaluated clinically and is only a possibility. If her medical tests are normal, a psychiatry consultation might help. Sometimes children may not be able to say everything and may be under stress which can be handled by trained professionals.

Hope this helps
