Nausea, Vomiting Sensation. On Sulfamethoxazole Tmp, Levothyroxine, Lisinopril. Advice
I am on my 7th day of taking sulfamethoxazole-tmp. Yesterday and today I experienced nausea - tody to the point where I was retching in the bathroom but bringing up nothing. Tried to get in touch with my GP but she has not responded yet. Need to know if I should continue taking it, or stop. I also take Levothyroxine (75mcg) and Lisinopril (20mg).
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Sulphamethoxasone + trimehoprim is type of antibiotics and it is bound to develops gastritis and so nausea and vomiting. Lisinoprol + levothyroxin are also causing some gastric upset. In my opinion the course of antibiotics , you have completed , so you can stop this drug. 2nd step is take ranitidine like antacid concomitantly . Still any problems or if antibiotics are necessary than you have to contact your treating doctor. Good luck. Dr. HET
