Nausea, Back Pain, Stomach Pain, Delayed Periods. Negative Pregnancy Tests. Pregnant?

I have had sharp pain in my lower back for 3 days, I am tired most of the day, peeing a lot more than normal especially at night, sometimes I am nausea , I am 4 days late for my period. Stomach hurts when I pick up my 21 month old son who is about 24 lbs. I stopped taking birth control in June. 3 negative pregnancy test . Could I still be pregnant or should I be concerned that it is something else?

Hi there,

The 3 common possibilities I can think of in your case are urinary tract infection ,delayed periods, pregnancy. I would suggest that you get a urine routine examination done as soon as possible to rule out the possibility of a urinary tract infection.

Repeat the pregnancy test after 4-5 days. If still negative and no periods , visit the gynaecogist for a check up.

In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids, at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Follow good perineal hygiene. Ensure regular periodic emptying of the bladder.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
