pressure over the legs nerve will cause this condition that too for a temporary period only, better start massaging your leg daily which will improve blood circulation to your leg and all other ms of the same then they wont fall asleep
or else go for diabetes check up once at least to get rid of this complain soon

General & Family Physician Dr. Pragnesh Vachharajani's  Response
Hi,Shaun,thanks for query.
This is not serious issue.Nerves that are supplying the particular part when gets irritated due to pressure on them, the area that they supply becomes numb. This is not a big health problem.Still it is better that you get your blood counts done to look for any b complex deficiency like B12 deficiency is there or not.Blood counts will give indirect hint .Take more of fruits and vegetables,go for regular exercise.bye.

hi shaun
welcome to health care magic
Foot numbness is an abnormal condition in which you feel a loss of sensation in one (unilateral) or both (bilateral) feet, including the toes.
it may be due to a lack of blood supply to an area or nerve damage.
Depending on the cause, the loss of sensation can disappear quickly, such as numbness after sitting for a long time that will fade away once you move your legs and feet around. Chronic numbness in the feet generally indicates some level of damage to the nerves.
If u experience foot numbness with loss of bladder or bowel control, paralysis, confusion, weakness in the foot, or slurred speech, than u need to consult doctor immediate
If your foot numbness is persistent, recurrent, or causes you concern, contact a neurologist.
good luck

hi
welcome to hcm
you need not worry.
the reason for your problem is that the nerve gets irritated with pressure over it and hence you feel numb.
the numbness is relieved when the pressure is relieved.
try simple exercises that help increase blood supply to us leg.
massaging can also help.
