Missed Periods, Possible Pregnancy. History Of Being On Methotrexate For Rhuematoid Arthritis. Stop Medication?
Hi,
I'm a Rhuematoid Arthritis patient under the medication of Methotrexate. My periods have been missed this month and i think i'm pregnant now. I couldnt consult my doctor till two weeks as i'm in some other location. So, can i stop the Methotrexate medicine right now and can continue my pregnancy. Please suggest me what to do, as I dont want to get it aborted.

You should first confirm your pregnancy by urine pregnancy test, If it is positive then stop methotrexate tablet immediately because it is very harmful for your baby development.
You should consult your gynaecologist and get your regular check-up done, to see that your baby is fine or not.

This is just to inform you that one must stop Methotrexate atleast 2-3 months prior to planning a pregnancy.
Also, Methotrexate is said to produce serious teratogenic effects in the developing foetus if it is taken during the first trimester of pregnancy.
So, I suggest you to consult an Obstetrician and Rheumatologist and discuss the issues.

kindly stop the methotrexate drug immediately as it may result in congenital abnormality of the developing fetus. It is not safe to be given during pregnancy.
Also counsult your pysician for an alternative medicine for rheumatoid arthritis
