I am a 53 year old white female, always had good health, other than cervical spine problems and surgery for that 3 years ago. Do have high stress. And had occasional migraines. Insomnia. About 9-10 mos ago began noticing forgetfulness, short-term-memory problems, fuzzyness, some dizziness, distractedness. chalked it up to menopause. Dr ordered cat scan when I mentioned - it was normal, blood tests-vit D normal, thyroid seemed ok. saw neorologist. gave me new meds for migraines. Suddenly blood pressure shot up and new headaches started in top of head. BP was always normal before. GP took me off new med. BP did not come down, put me on BP med. Did EKG. Showed high heartrate. Those headaches stopped and BP seemed to normalize. After one headache free day, began having headaches again every day-around left eye & top of head, forehead sometimes. Dr put me on topamax. Did more blood tests. This time the (TSH?) thyroid had risen to above normal from June to Sept.Every day 12 hours or more x around 34 days now. some days have migraines. Migraine pain days 9-12 per month. Also having severe neck and hand pain. MRI's of brain and cervical spine done- brain normal, neck showed a spur at C-7.
I think the thyroid could be causing a lot of my symptoms. I feel horrible. In pain every day, lots of pain. I want to see an endocrinologist. My GP just now got me an appointment with one but it's not until Nov 27th (first available). I do not want to feel awful until then. Any suggestions? Can an internist do the same thing if I could get in faster?
