Lymph Node Under Jaw Bone, Swelling, Purple Area Under Jawbone After Squeezing. Remedy?

Hi, i have a lymph node right under my jaw bone, which appeared first a month ago, and i mistook it for a pimple, and squeezed it. pus came out, but it swelled during the next few days, and got really sore. i then read about lymph nodes, and i figure thats what i must've squeezed instead :/ now, a month later with on and off pain, soreness and swelling, it's settled down with the swelling, but the nail-sized area under my jawbone, is all purple and it's still very sensitive.
What do i do..?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

It cannot be a lymphnode as they are deeply situated beneath the skin its not possible to squeeze its contents out manually.

I feel that you could have squeezed a FURUNCLE which is an infection of the hair follicle, which tends to become filled with pus and enlarges in size. An adequate course of an appropriate antibiotic will make it heal. Momentarily, use analgesic like Advil or Aleve to alleviate the pain.

Consult your treating physician for further management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
