Loose Motions, Vomiting, Fever, Enterogermina, Domestal, Calpol, Taxim O

Hi, My son( 1 year 1 month) was having Loose motions and Vomiting and fever (near 100 F). As my doctor was out of city, to treat him, I have used the same medicines which were given 1 month back to him when he was having same problems. The medicines were Enterogermina(1 per day till 3 days), Domestal(4 to 5 times during 2 days), Calpol ( 1 time only) and Taxim O (50 mg tab for one time only). Now he is fine. But my question is, Was it fine to give all these medicines to him. And also he had vomiting while having food 1 time yesterday. Apart from this, I still feel that his digestive system is not yet working well. So what should I give him now?

Hi,
As you have already given him the medicines so do not worry now. It is better to refrain from self medication. But you have given him an antibiotic Taxim O and it is a course of 5 days. You can give him medicines like calpol (For fever), Domstal (for vomiting and enterogermina if he has vomiting and loose motions next time alongwith ORS solution in water. But do not give antibiotics without doctors prescription and guidance. Now that you have started giving antibiotics it would be ideal for you to complete the 5 day course.

If he does not have fever and vomiting stop all medicines except the antibiotic. Stop the antibiotic after 5 days are completed. Till then give him ORS solution in water to drink if he passes a loose motion. Your son should be alright within a few days. It takes time for babies to recover fully.
Henceforth better take him to another pediatrician if your doctor is out of town.
Take care
